How we set up a Spanish-speaking team

Each step ends with something you can check.

  1. Scope the work

    Week 1

Channels, volumes, hours, the Spanish-speaking markets you serve and what agents may decide alone. You get a written scope and a quote.

  2. Recruit and assess

    Weeks 1–3

Candidates complete structured interviews, language and technical assessments. You can interview the shortlist.

  3. Agree the style

    Weeks 2–3

European or Latin American Spanish, form of address, greetings and product terms, written into a style guide.

  4. Train on your product

    Before go-live

Walkthroughs, test accounts and your knowledge base, then supervised replies until quality is stable.

  5. Go live and review

    From go-live

Weekly review of real Spanish conversations against an agreed scorecard.

Spain, Latin America and the US

One language, several standards. We agree these points before go-live.

  • Spain

    Form of address
Usted or tú depending on the brand; vosotros for the plural
    Time difference from Prishtina
Same (CET/CEST); Canary Islands 1 hour behind
    What to plan for
European Spanish vocabulary (ordenador, móvil); EU GDPR applies
  • Mexico and Central America

    Form of address
Usted is common in service; ustedes for the plural
    Time difference from Prishtina
    About 7–8 hours behind
    What to plan for
Latin American vocabulary (computadora, celular); coverage needs later shifts
  • South America

    Form of address
Varies by country; some use vos informally
    Time difference from Prishtina
    About 4–7 hours behind
    What to plan for
Local terms differ between countries; agree a neutral Latin American style or one per market
  • United States

    Form of address
Usted or tú depending on the brand
    Time difference from Prishtina
    Usually 6–9 hours behind
    What to plan for
Many customers switch between Spanish and English; bilingual queues help

If you serve several Spanish-speaking markets from one queue, a neutral Latin American style is a common choice; for Spain, a separate style is usually worth it.

Getting Spanish-language support right

The biggest decision in Spanish support is which Spanish. Make it before the first ticket and most other quality questions get easier.

European, Latin American or neutral Spanish

Customers in Spain use vosotros, ordenador and móvil; customers in Mexico use ustedes, computadora and celular. Neither group expects perfection in the other's variety, but replies that mix the two read as careless. If you serve one market, write for it. If you serve many from one queue, a neutral Latin American style is a common compromise, with Spain handled separately when volumes justify it.

Hours and coverage

  • Spain shares Prishtina's time zone, so a normal working day covers Spanish business hours.
  • Mexico and Central America are about seven to eight hours behind Prishtina; South America about four to seven.
  • US customers are usually six to nine hours behind, depending on the time zone.
  • Coverage for the Americas means afternoon and evening shifts, which affects hiring and the quote.

Data protection

EU GDPR applies to customers in Spain. Kosovo has no EU adequacy decision, so transfers rely on standard contractual clauses and a transfer assessment. Latin American countries have their own data protection laws; check them for the markets you serve. This is general information, not legal advice.

Spanish customer support outsourcing: common questions

How much does Spanish-language customer support cost?

Spanish-language support is priced by custom quote, depending on channels, hours, volume and technical depth. Our published starting rate of €10 per agent-hour applies to English-speaking support.

Do your agents write European or Latin American Spanish?

The one your customers use. We agree vocabulary and form of address in the style guide; for several markets, a neutral Latin American style or separate styles per market are the usual options.

Can a team in Europe cover Latin American hours?

Latin America is roughly four to eight hours behind Prishtina, so coverage means afternoon and evening shifts. Tell us the hours you need and we will confirm what we can staff.

Can we interview the agents?

Yes. Clients can take part in the selection process and interview shortlisted candidates.

How is personal data from Spain protected?

Kosovo's data protection law is closely modelled on the GDPR, but there is no EU adequacy decision for Kosovo, so transfers rely on standard contractual clauses and a transfer assessment. Customer data from Latin America falls under each country's own law.
