Swedish is one of Finland's two national languages, alongside Finnish. Serving Finland in Swedish reaches Swedish-speaking Finns, not the whole market.

Getting Swedish-language support right

Swedish customer service is informal and fast. These points help an outsourced team match that.

Tone

Du is the standard form of address in Sweden, in customer service as everywhere else, and replies are expected to be friendly and short. A formal letter style reads as distant. Agree greetings and sign-offs once, with examples, and check them in weekly reviews.

Finland is a two-language market

  • Swedish is one of Finland's two national languages, and Åland is Swedish-speaking.
  • Most Finnish customers speak Finnish, which is unrelated to Swedish; Swedish support reaches the Swedish-speaking minority.
  • Finland is one hour ahead of Sweden and Prishtina, so morning cover starts an hour earlier for Finnish customers.

Data protection

EU GDPR applies to customers in Sweden and Finland. Kosovo has no EU adequacy decision, so transfers rely on standard contractual clauses and a transfer assessment. This is general information, not legal advice; our page on GDPR and outsourcing to Kosovo explains more.

Swedish customer support outsourcing: common questions

How much does Swedish-language customer support cost?

Swedish-language support is priced by custom quote, depending on channels, hours, volume and technical depth. Our published starting rate of €10 per agent-hour applies to English-speaking support.

Can a Swedish-speaking team serve customers in Finland?

It can serve Swedish-speaking customers in Finland, including Åland. Most Finns speak Finnish, a different language that Swedish does not cover, so check your customer base before relying on Swedish for Finland.

Is informal du right for Swedish customer service?

Yes, in almost all cases. Du has been the standard form of address in Sweden for decades, including in customer service.

Can we interview the agents?

Yes. Clients can take part in the selection process and interview shortlisted candidates.

How is personal data from Sweden protected?

Kosovo's data protection law is closely modelled on the GDPR, but there is no EU adequacy decision for Kosovo, so transfers rely on standard contractual clauses and a transfer assessment. Agents work in your systems, under access rights you control.
